Every decision-maker has questions:

What if we cut the budget by 20%?

What if we delay Phase 2?

What if we hire faster?

What is the impact of using open-source vs commercial licensing?

Until now, answering those questions meant opening a spreadsheet, tweaking numbers, re-running formulas, and hoping everything still made sense. It was slow, manual, and error-prone.

With the new Scenarios feature we’ve just released to our customers you can explore multiple paths through your business case, quickly, clearly, and collaboratively. It’s designed to support real-world conversations, where trade-offs, pivots, and resource shifts aren’t edge cases, they’re the norm.

Why Scenarios matter

Even the strongest business case will be challenged; budgets shift, priorities evolve, stakeholders want options. A single static version of your case just doesn’t cut it anymore.  Here’s why being able to compare multiple scenarios for a given project is essential:

🤔 It shows you’ve done the thinking: When you present multiple well-structured paths forward, you demonstrate maturity and preparation - not wishful thinking.

🤸‍♂️ It builds flexibility into your case: Business conditions change, so being able to adapt your case quickly gives you an edge in negotiations and planning.

🎢 It creates momentum, not blockers: Instead of sending your case “back for revisions,” stakeholders can explore options live and agree on next steps faster.

In today’s environment, certainty is rare, but clarity is still possible. Scenarios help you get there.

What you can do with Scenarios

Our new feature makes scenario modeling seamless, without touching a spreadsheet or having to painstakingly manually recreate your entire case each time. Here’s what’s built in:

⿻ Clone and tweak with ease: Duplicate an existing scenario and change any variable - costs, benefits, start & end dates for various costs, inflation rates, discount rates etc.

🏷️ Label clearly: Give each scenario a meaningful name - e.g. “Minimum Viable,” “Accelerated Timeline,” or “Conservative Budget” - to clearly navigate them with your stakeholders.

⚖️ Compare side by side: View scenarios next to each other to see how changes affect ROI, discounted payback period and NPV.

How to get started

For existing customers just log in as normal and you’ll see Scenarios as a new item in your top toolbar

or if you’re not a customer yet then sign up to our free 7 day trial today to see what you’ve been missing.

Not sure where to start? Try building:

  • A high-budget / high-impact version

  • A phased or delayed-start version

  • A minimal-viable-scope version

The goal isn’t to create endless versions - it’s to create the right number to give your team a clear, realistic vision about how to move forward.

Summary

Whether you're navigating budget constraints, evaluating competing vendors, or exploring ways to accelerate time-to-value, Scenarios puts you in control.

Scenarios represent more than just a new feature - it reflects how modern business cases are built today: collaborative, flexible, and responsive to real constraints.  We designed this to make your life easier and to help your ideas get the green light, faster.  Whether you’re negotiating scope, pitching alternatives, or responding to feedback, Scenarios gives you the tools to lead with confidence.
